Excitement is mounting as Apple prepares to launch its iPhone 17 series in September 2025, with major upgrades and a new model set to join the lineup. This year, Apple is expected to unveil four variants: the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and an all-new, ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air. Although Apple has yet to confirm the official date, tech analyst David Phelan predicts the launch event may take place on September 9.
Color Options for iPhone 17 Series
Leaked information suggests that Apple is experimenting with new color finishes for the iPhone 17 lineup. The standard iPhone 17 may arrive in fresh purple and green variants. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to debut in a stunning Sky Blue hue, inspired by the M4 MacBook Air.
Interestingly, Apple may move away from the titanium frame used in recent Pro models. The iPhone 17 Pro could feature a lightweight aluminum frame paired with a hybrid aluminum-glass back, offering a new aesthetic and feel.
Display Sizes and Design Changes
According to a now-deleted Amazon India listing for Spigen’s EZ Fit Tempered Glass, both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro might sport 6.3-inch displays — a step up from the 6.1-inch screen on the iPhone 16. These changes are in line with earlier predictions from supply chain leaks.
Further speculation from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that the iPhone 17 Air may feature a larger 6.6-inch display with a resolution of 1260 x 2740, possibly confirmed by hints in the iOS 26 beta 2 update.
Camera Upgrades Across the Lineup
Camera improvements are expected across all models. Reports indicate Apple will introduce a new 24MP front-facing camera, replacing the 12MP sensor seen in previous generations.
The Pro models are rumored to receive a 48MP telephoto lens, while the main and ultra-wide sensors are likely to remain unchanged. The iPhone 17 Air is also attracting attention for its ultra-slim design, rumored to be just 5–6mm thick (excluding the camera bump) — potentially making it the thinnest iPhone to date.
